Dr. Julia E. Zabel is a German patent attorney and advises her clients on intellectual property matters. She previously worked for various renowned patent and law firms in Hamburg, where she gained experience in patent litigation as well as in patent prosecution. In addition, she gained experience at the German Patent and Trademark Office and the German Federal Patent Court during her training as a patent attorney. She pursued her scientific education at the University of Freiburg where she graduated with a focus on theoretical polymer physics. She was able to further deepen her expertise in the field of polymer and solid state physics during her doctoral studies at the Charles Sadron Institute in Strasbourg.

At SONDERHOFF&EINSEL EUROPE, Dr. Zabel advises on the registration, defense and enforcement of patents, utility models, trademarks and designs as well as on proceedings concerning their validity. She also prepares freedom-to-operate opinions in the field of intellectual property.

Dr. Zabel’s technical focus is in the fields of physics, mechanics, vehicle construction, tool making and HVAC.

Dr. Zabel is a native speaker of German and English and has a basic knowledge of French.
